Rijkswaterstaat Takes Down Noordwaard Levee

Instead of raising the river levee, the Dutch national public works, Rijkswaterstaat, started to lower the levee to 3 meters over the river’s 2 km stretch. In case of an extreme river discharge, the river will rise over the lowered levee and flood the hinterland, the Noordwaard polder. Read More
Van Oord Names its Twelfth Water Injection Dredger

For the first time in Van Oord’s history, the Dutch company has inaugurated one of its fleet at Rotterdam harbour. Van Oord employee Ms Jacqueline Determann named the vessel ‘Borr’ which means ‘son’ in Nordic mythology. The water injection dredging vessel measures 19 m in length and more than 5 m in width. Financial Support for Dunkirk Dredging Plans

The European Union has decided to give €550,000 in funding for the technical design studies of the project. The funds will go towards improving access for shipping in the Western Port of Dunkirk, in order to provide optimum conditions for the berthing of the world’s largest container carriers and capesize ore carriers in the Port of Dunkirk.
