Den Oever Dike Reinforcement Contract for Van Oord

Hollands Noorderkwartier Regional Water Board (HHNK) has awarded the dike reinforcement project Den Oever in the north of the Netherlands to Van Oord. The work is set to begin in 2017 and will continue until 2019, Van Ord said in the announcement. The project, part of the Dutch Flood Protection Program, will encompass the design and the reinforcement of 900 meters of dike. Read More

Van Oord, a Dutch dredging company, has won the Kingsbridge and Salcombe Estuary dredging contract. The dredging operations could start as soon as 21st January – weather permitting, according to the Salcombe Harbor Authority. Adam Parnell, Harbor Master at Salcombe Harbor, said that the type of dredging to be undertaken is known as water injection dredging. This is a proven technique for small-scale dredging or working at locations that are difficult to reach. Read More

Van Oord has named a new cutter suction dredger at the yard of Damen Dredging Equipment in Nijkerk, the Netherlands. The vessel, which was given the name Mangystau, is the second modified Damen CSD 650 cutter suction dredger in the Van Oord fleet. The naming ceremony was performed by Ms J.P.T.M. Van Oord employee Ms Jacqueline Determann named the vessel ‘Borr’ which means ‘son’ in Nordic mythology. The water injection dredging vessel measures 19 m in length and more than 5 m in width.
